Regarding:
The Belovezhskaya Pushcha — 21st Century Website

The Web-site «The Belovezhskaya Pushcha — 21st Century» has begun its work. This site is dedicated to providing information regarding the problems of protection and conservation of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park — the unique nook of wilderness in the center of Europe.

At present, The Belovezhskaya Pushcha, which is a National Park, Biosphere Reserve, and the part of the World Heritage, is in danger. There has been intensive profit activity started in the unique wilderness complex using economical and management methods that threaten to destroy this unique virgin forest.

If the present management policies of destroying this relict forest are not stopped today, tomorrow will be too late. In this scenario the Belovezhskaya Pushcha will be transformed into specialized forest management enterprise where under the guise of «wilderness conservation» or «nature protection» the remnants of the primeval old-aged Belavezha forest, relict flora and fauna species will be ruined. The huge tree stamps and steady lines of artificial forest regeneration will be all that is left to show to the tourists.

Consequently, anyone interested in the natural heritage of Belarus and the Belovezhskaya Pushcha Forest, who would like to preserve it for future generations, we ask you to support our efforts in protecting this unique part of Belarusian Nature.

Let's Save and Preserve the Belovezhskaya Pushcha!

Our intent with this site is to try and reflect the current situation and problems in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha evenly, we will present analysis, which is based on the facts and which is independent from any administrative conjecture.

This website is designed to help anyone interested find information pertaining to specific elements of The Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The future plan for the website is to establish new sections periodically that will provide more complete and detailed information about this unique nature complex. This site will be maintained in a manner that is as versatile and varied as the Belovezhskaya Pushcha itself with its mosaic forests and numerous complicated problems.
